The Role of Project Managers in the New Global Economy
Notes from Davos: Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World
“I recently returned from Davos, Switzerland, where I had the privilege of representing PMI at a side workshop held during the annual World Economic Forum (WEF).
This was my first time at Davos and I was inspired by the excitement in the air. Many of the world’s leading thinkers and doers were gathered in this small, snowy town in the Swiss Alps, eager to tackle society’s most urgent issues.
While major addresses from heads of state understandably grabbed many of the headlines, hundreds of other sessions and panel discussions like ours provided a unique glimpse into opportunities for strengthening the global economy. In fact, these “outside the main hall” sessions delivered more influential and impactful content than I would have expected.
This theme of this year’s WEF meeting, Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World, was a reminder that economic growth and prosperity alone are not enough to create a better world. As an official overview of the event read, “Economic prosperity and social cohesion are not one and the same.” The gathering aimed to galvanize global leaders to work collaboratively across sectors and geographic boundaries to address global challenges.”
